Astarta Holding — 4Q23 crop sales at record high; 2023 sugar production up 34% y-o-y
WSE-listed Astarta Holding, Ukraine’s largest sugar producer, published its 4Q23 operating update, reporting sugar sales of 81 kt, down 2.7% q-o-q but up 30% y-o-y, delivered at an average sale price of $663/t, down 9.2% q-o-q and 5.4% y-o-y. Grain and oilseed sales surged by 7.6x q-o-q and 2.1x y-o-y to 537 kt, including 285 kt of wheat and 174 kt of corn. Wheat selling prices averaged $237/t, up 36% q-o-q but down 7.6% y-o-y, while corn averaged $215/t (+62% q-o-q, -18% y-o-y). Soybean oil sales totaled 10 kt in 4Q23 (+10% q-o-q, -3.0% y‑o-y) while soybean meal sales jumped by 53% q-o-q and 24% y-o-y to 45 kt. The average selling price of soybean oil fell by 2.2% q-o-q and 35% y-o-y to $812/t and that of meal declined by 7.3% q-o-q to $486/t (+1.4% y-o-y). Lastly, 4Q23 raw milk sales stood at 28 kt (+8.4% q-o-q, +5.3% y-o-y), averaging $434/t in price (+24% q-o-q and 16% y-o-y).
Separately, Astarta reported 2023 sugar production of 377 kt, up 34% y-o-y and marking a five-year high.
