Kyiv, March 19, 2007 – Dragon Capital has taken top honors as Investor of the Year in the Lyudyna Roku (“Person of the Year”) nationwide awards gala. The gala, which named winners in 19 categories ranging from sport and entertainment to business and politics, took place in Kyiv on March 17.

The award, which was chosen by a panel of 48 Ukrainians prominent in business, politics and academia, is the first of its kind for Dragon Capital, a Kyiv-based investment bank. Dragon beat out several other nominees in the Investor of the Year category such as local subsidiaries of retail chain Metro Cash & Carry and construction materials producer Knauf. Accepting the award for Dragon Capital was bank co-founder and Head of Sales Dmytro Tarabakin.

“We’re pleasantly surprised by this award and very delighted to receive it,” Tarabakin said after the ceremony. “It’s an honor to be recognized in this way by such a distinguished panel for the work we did in 2006. It was a remarkable year for us and we hope to repeat our successes in 2007.”

Dragon Capital led a break-out year for capital markets in Ukraine in 2006, acting as lead manager and sole bookrunner on 12 of the 16 IPOs/private share placements in the country and raising $450m in new equity capital in the process. At the same time, the bank advised Ukrainian companies on attracting $300m of debt. Finally, Dragon’s brokerage arm led the PFTS, Ukraine’s stock market, for the second year in a row, accounting for nearly one-third (32%) of the total stock trading volume on the exchange, double its nearest competitor.

The Lyudyna Roku awards were established in 1995 as a way of celebrating Ukraine’s intellectual and professional elite in business, politics, media, sport and culture. Other winners at the gala held at the Ukraine Palace concert hall included Viktor Kapustin, the CEO of Ukreximbank, as Financier of the Year and Mykola Tolmachov, the general director of construction company TMM, as Manager of the Year. Among those in the panel to select the business category nominees were Ukraine’s Economy Minister Volodymyr Makukha, Industrial Policy Minister Anatoliy Holovko and State Property Fund Head Valentyna Semenyuk.

The Lyudyna Roku award adds to three other honors Dragon Capital received in 2006: Best Equity House in Ukraine from Euromoney; Top Deal in Ukraine (Rodovid Bank IPO) from Finance New Europe, and Top Trader on the PFTS.
